Trust Building Phase
Before we begin working with your dog, we always take the time for your dog to become comfortable in our environment and with us as trainers/handlers.
Teaching Phase
This will be the longest of the phases (and the most important phase). We will analyze your dog's skill level with various obedience tests and exercises and then we will work on areas/issues that require our specific attention.
Reinforcement Phase
Once your dog is confident and has learned the commands (tests and exercises) we will continue positive reinforcement training techniques to ensure consistent reliability.
Leadership Phase
We will begin the process of transferring the role of leadership over to you (the owner/handler). Typically, this private one-on-one lesson is conducted, and are most advantageous, within the last day of your dog's stay with us. During this phase it is important not only to demonstrate just how well the dog interacts/performs with us, but the owners/handlers need to understand what is required as we are actually teaching the owners/handlers, not the dog. Pet owners need to also understand that they have to keep up the structure that was maintained in Boarding School for the dog to be successful once they return to their own environment. A consistent schedule for exercises is required as well for the dog to maintain behaviors learned or modified.
